Kenyan journalist Soni Methu, popularly known as the host of CNN’s Inside Africa between 2014 -2015, died on Thursday in Kenya after collapsing from unknown causes, She was 34.

Faith Methu, her sister told newsmen that she collapsed on Thursday after complaining of stomach pain. Methu was staying at a hotel in Diani, Kwale county, Kenya when the incident occurred. It was further learnt that she exhibited signs of a seizure, and was confirmed dead on the way to the hospital.

Her sister said an autopsy will be performed to find out “exactly what happened.”

CNN has also released a statement following the tragic occurrence.

“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and former colleague Soni Methu,” it said. “Our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends, from all at CNN.”
