Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) chairman in the 19 Northern states and FCT, Rev Yakubu Pam has beckoned on the Federal Government and the Northern Governors to bring to an end the ongoing armed banditry in Zamfara state.

Also, asking the Governors to find a lasting solution to the ongoing activities of armed gunmen in North-west and North-central state and the acts of kidnapping for ransom in the country.

Stating this in Jos, Plateau state capital while addressing newsmen said that, “I want to use this opportunity to call on Northern Governors to join hands with the Federal government to bring to an end the ongoing armed banditry in Zamfara State, acts of kidnapping for ransom on Abuja-Kaduna highway and activities of armed gunmen in North-West and North-Central states of the federation.

“I also want to call on the federal government to do all it can to effect the release of Leah Sharibu, Alice Ngaddah and other captives that are still held by Boko Haram so that they can reunite with their families,” he maintained.

While addressing Christian faithful, he said, “I urge all Christians in Northern Nigeria and the entire country to use the season of Easter celebrations to show love to the less privileged in their communities, by sharing gifts to the needy, especially widows and orphans.”

Seizing the opportunity, he called on Nigerians to display the life of Jesus Christ in their dealings with fellow citizens for the return of lasting peace in all parts of the country.
